Wang Manyu has made history by winning the women's singles title at the World Table Tennis Tour (WTT) US Grand Slam tournament in Las Vegas on Saturday.

The Chinese player defeated her compatriot Zhu Yuling in the final to claim the prestigious trophy. Wang had previously won the event in 2019 and 2020 but lost to Zhu in both finals.

In the first match of the tournament, Wang beat fellow Chinese player Qiu Yingjie in straight sets before defeating Japan's Mima Ito in the second round. She then went on to defeat American player Taylor Torn in the third round and Japanese player Akari Sato in the quarter-finals.

In the semi-final, she faced Zhu, who had beaten Wang in their previous meeting earlier this year. In a closely contested match, Wang emerged victorious with a scoreline of 4-2 (11-8, 7-11, 11-6,Racing News Flash 11-5, 11-5).

Next up for Wang is her next opponent, Zhu Yuling. The two players have met twice before, with Wang prevailing in both matches. However, Zhu has been performing well recently and could provide a tough challenge for Wang.

Overall, Wang's victory at the WTT US Grand Slam is a significant achievement for China. It marks her return to form after a disappointing performance at the 2022 World Cup in Tokyo. The win also puts her in line to compete against Zhu Yuling in the upcoming World Cup in Wuhan, which will be held from August 11-15.
